Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Our Commitment to Preventing Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking

At The Wesley, we believe in creating a workplace and hospitality experience founded on fairness, respect, and ethical responsibility. We are deeply committed to ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our operations, partnerships, or supply chains.

Modern slavery is a serious global issue and while we are a small-to-medium enterprise, we acknowledge our role in making a positive impact. We are proud to align with the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and we take proactive steps to protect human rights across every part of our business.

Our Zero-Tolerance Approach

At The Wesley, we have a clear, unwavering stance: we operate with zero tolerance towards any form of modern slavery or human trafficking. This commitment extends to every individual and organisation we work with, from our employees and contractors to our valued suppliers and service providers.

We believe that running an ethical business goes hand in hand with delivering outstanding hospitality. Our guests, teams, and community can trust that we are dedicated to operating with integrity, transparency, and social responsibility.

How We Take Action

To uphold this commitment, we have implemented key measures to identify, prevent, and address any risks related to modern slavery:

  • Conducting thorough due diligence on all new suppliers, contractors, and partners to ensure they share our commitment to ethical working practices.
  • Actively reviewing our supply chains to identify areas of higher risk, particularly within sectors or regions known to be vulnerable to exploitation.
  • Embedding anti-slavery clauses into our contracts with suppliers and service partners to set clear expectations and consequences.
  • Providing targeted training to employees, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supply chain management, helping them recognise the signs of modern slavery and know how to respond appropriately.

A Shared Responsibility

We understand that preventing modern slavery is not a one-time action but a continuous commitment shared by everyone at The Wesley:

  • Our HR department is responsible for ensuring that all recruitment, whether direct or through third parties, upholds workers' rights and complies fully with anti-slavery legislation.
  • Our Line Managers are tasked with fostering a workplace culture of respect, ensuring all team members feel valued and protected.
  • All employees are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any concerns through our confidential Whistleblowing Policy, knowing that every report will be taken seriously and acted upon appropriately.

Holding Ourselves and Our Partners Accountable

If any individual, supplier, or partner is found to be involved in practices that go against this policy, we will take decisive action. This may include disciplinary proceedings, contract termination, and reporting to relevant authorities.

Monitoring, Review, and Future Improvements

Our Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy is reviewed annually to ensure we remain compliant with legislation and best practice. We continuously seek ways to strengthen our processes, deepen our understanding of the risks, and lead by example within the hospitality industry.

A Better Future for All

By embedding these values into the heart of our operations, we aim not only to protect those within our direct employment but also to contribute to the wider fight against exploitation across our industry.

At The Wesley, we believe that hospitality should uplift everyone involved — from our guests to our global supply partners. By taking a firm stand against modern slavery, we are building a future where ethical practices are the standard, not the exception.
